No copyright infringement is intended with this, or any other video I upload. The purpose of uploading this video is for the viewing pleasure for those that watch it.This is part ten of the 1985 Daytona 500. This race, the 27th running of the Daytona 500, narked a major changing of the guard in the sport's biggest race.As the race approaches the halfway point, Bill Elliott, with most of his competition already sidelined, continues to dominate with only four other cars on the same lap. Neil Bonnett, running second is slowly dropping back. Then on the 100th lap, David Pearson, running eighth blows his engine. And with that, the massacre of the big names is complete. Within a span of 20 laps, Bobby Allison, Richard Petty, Benny Parsons, Dale Earnhardt, A.J. Foyt, and now David Pearson, all of whom had either won the Daytona 500 and/or the series championship at least once, had dropped out, all but one from engine problems. And that doesn't even include Cale Yarborough, who dropped out on lap 64, or Ron Bouchard, who fell out on lap 47 (the same as his car number), nor Tim Richmond, who crashed on lap 71, or Terry Labonte, who suffered an oil leak, causing his cluitch to slip, knocking him out of contention, and eventually out of the race as well. The massacre of the big names resulted in Buddy Baker being the only previous Daytona 500 winner (of seven) left in the race, and only Darrell Waltrip among All Credits go to SPEED, NASCAR, and CBS Sports, who originally broadcast this race on February 17, 1985.

Jan 30, 2012 - At 3:51 Ken mentions that Darrell Waltrip was going to be a dad later that year. He and Stevie didn't become parents until mid-1987 (September, I think; I know he won at Martinsville that fall just after Jessica was born). This must have sadly been one of their numerous miscarriages.

Jan 30, 2012 - @UberAntisocialistPlease. That's not a proper thing to say, even if it's true. I upload these videos for the viewing pleasure for those that watch them, not for anyone to make comments like that. Constructive criticism is welcome on my videos, but not comments like that.

UberAntisocialist Says:

Jan 30, 2012 - That wasn't meant to be critical. Darrell and Stevie talked about this during one of the biography shows (Beyond the Glory, I think). They had wanted children for quite a while, and it greatly bothered them that it just wasn't happening. They were set to adopt until they decided against it. Soon, God blessed them with 2 daughters. If you think I'm trying to insult the Waltrips, you're mistaken.

Jan 31, 2012 - I was in no way, insinuating that you were trying to insult the Waltrips, or any other family for that matter. I just felt that the comment itself was out of line. It had nothing to do with who you were talking about.

May 13, 2012 - yeah, dont you realize that if you pretend bad things like miscarriages dont exist, they never happen
