Mo copyright infringement is intended with this, or any other video I upload. The purpose of uploading this video is for the viewing pleasure for those that watch it.This is the 17th and last part of the 1985 Daytona 500. This race, the 27th running of the Daytona 500, marked a major chaanging of the guard in the sport's bigest event. With Neil Bonnett now out of the race, only Lake Speed remains on the same lap as Elliott as the gren flag comes out for the final lap, but Speed's nowhere close to Elliott as Elliott easily takes the 27th Daytona 500, with Speed the only other driver to finish on the same lap in second place. Darrell Waltrip ends up third with Buddy Baker fourth and Ricky Rudd fifth. We also see Elliott's victory lane interview, as well as the closing host segment by Steve Byrnes to wrap up this race. Also, on the CBS final rundown of the top ten finishers, there are a couple of errors. First, Rusty Wallace finished ahead of Bobby Hillin, Jr., which is correctly given on the graphic, though Ken Squier has that backwards. Then, CBS erroneously has Ken Schrader finishing tenth. However, both Schrader and Neil Bonnett completed 195 laps, but Bonnett did so first, so he got the higher finishing position. The final results of the 1985 Daytona 500 were as follows: 1. 9-Bill Elliott 2. 75-Lake Speed 3. 11-Darrell Waltrip 4. 88-Buddy Baker 5. 15-Ricky Rudd 6. 51-Greg Sacks 7. 5-Geoff Bodine 8. 2-Rusty Wallace 9. 8-Bobby Hillin, Jr.10. 12-Neil Bonnett11. 90-Ken Schrader (the only rookie in the race)12. 84-Mike Alexander13. 74-Bobby Wawak14. 52-Jimmy Means15. 67-Morgan Shepherd16. 95-Sterling Marlin17. 4-Joe Ruttman18. 64-Clark Dwyer19. 48-Lennie Pond20. 31-Slick Johnson21. 17-Ken Ragan22. 1-Dick Brooks23. 89-Jim Sauter24. 71-Dave Marcis25. 44-Terry Labonte26. 33-Harry Gant27. 98-Trevor Boys28. 21-David Pearson (in his final Daytona 500)29. 66-Phil Parsons30. 14-A.J. Jan 30, 2012 - How can a person NOT like Bill Elliott? One of the most real people you could ever meet. Not the least bit phony.

cjs3872 Says:

Jan 31, 2012 - @UberAntisocialistWell, there was a reason he was voted the most popular driver in the sport 16 times. And Elliott was also one of the cleanest drivers that ever raced among the elite set, and with 44 wins, including 2 Daytona 500s, 3 Southern 500s, one Brickyard 400, the 1988 championship, and 55 poles, there no doubt that Elliott ranks as one of the elite drivers in the sport's history. But he did it honestly, unlike others who ran over the competition.

Feb 15, 2012 - I was nearly 18 years old when he won this race. I remember alot of Chevy fans in my high school being really pissed off about this.....LOL.
