The purpose of uploading this video is for the viewing pleasure for those that watch it.This is part three of the 1985 Daytona 500. This race, the 27th running of the Daytona 500, marked a major changing of the guard in the sport's biggest race.In this video, we see just how fast the pace of the race is, as Bill Elliott and Cale Yarborough ran the first ten laps at an average speed of 199.557 MPH. They slowed the pace down a bit after that, as the average after the first 20 laps was 195.228 MPH. Even so, the fast Fords easily pulled away from the rest of the field. David Pearson and Buddy Baker were the best of the rest at this time, running third and fourth. Even with a slight bobble, Richard Petty was moving up to fifth place. Meanwhile, Dale Earnhardt, Terry Labonte, and Bobby Allison were charging through the field, as Darrell Waltrip was backsliding through the field as fast as the others were charging.Al credits go to SPEED, NASCAR, and CBS Sports, who originally broadcast this race on February 17, 1985.

May 2, 2012 - Well back then, the treams had much more liberty to what they could do with the car, but if you watch the 1983 Daytona 500, you'll see just how superior the '83 T-Birds were aerodynamically against what they were racing against in that race. Heck, even Junie Donlavey's car was a major factor in that race. But the Fords lacked horsepower back then, but obviously got it by 1985. But another trick the Elliotts had up their sleeve was to pressurize either the air or fuel flow going into the engine.
